From Nida Artists\u2019 Colony to Pranas Dom\u0161aitis<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The mission of the Society of the East Prussian Art Lovers Nidden, founded in 2009 in Klaip\u0117da, is to trace, collect and disseminate information about art works created in East Prussia that vividly depict nature, history and inhabitants of the region. Within just one decade, chair of the Society Aleksandr Popov found and acquired in art auctions in Germany over 1300 works of painting and graphic art by almost 300 artists related to East Prussia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The exhibition <em>Four Seasons in East Prussia Art \u00a0<\/em>is made up from the collection of Aleksander Popov. The paintings included in the exhibition remind of two most significant phenomena of the East Prussian art history \u2013 the K\u00f6nigsberg Art Academy (which was opened in 1845 and functioned through 1945) and the Nida Artists\u2019 Colony (which was formed at the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century and existed through 1945). Based on the nature of relations with East Prussia, the artists presented in the exhibition can be conditionally divided into several groups that revel the scope of ties wich bound artists to the artistic East Prussia space: whether this was where they were born, lived, whether they studied at the Academy, some even ended up teaching there, or whether they visited just once or several time. Artists in East Prussia. 19<\/em><sup>th<\/sup><em> and the first half of the 20<\/em><sup>th<\/sup><em> century painting and graphic art from the collection of Aleksandr Popov<\/em> is opened in Klaip\u0117da, in the Pranas Dom\u0161aitis Gallery which is a subsidiary of the Lithuanian Art Museum (LAM).
