For Aleksandra Kasuba"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Gallery of Art presents a solo exhibition by Emilija \u0160karnulyt\u0117 and her latest audiovisual installation <em>Circular Time. For Aleksandra Kasuba<\/em>. The idea of the work was inspired by \u0160karnulyt\u0117&#8217;s personal acquaintance with the prominent American artist and architect of Lithuanian origin Aleksandra Kasuba and her creative legacy. In 2018, encouraged by her mother Rita \u0160karnulien\u0117, who was also an architect, Emilija for the first time visited <em>Rock Hill House <\/em>and <em>Shell Dwellings<\/em> designed by Kasuba in New Mexico. The same year Emilija established contact with Kasuba and visited her in Albuquerque. It was the common interests in connections between art and science, in achievements in astronomy, quantum physics and other branches of natural science that helped establish remarkable acquaintance between these artists representing two generations. This remarkable acquaintance was a tremendous inspiration, prompting \u0160karnulyt\u0117 to embody it in her work of art.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Circular Time. For Aleksandra Kasuba<\/em> is a multichannel audiovisual installation that consists of multilayered space where creative visions of both artists meet. Inspired by common interest in possible connections between art and science as well as combining elements of Kasuba\u2019s creative legacy with her own creative visions in a form of collage, \u0160karnulyt\u0117 develops possible creative dialogue between the two as a series of infinite existing and imaginary connections.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Emilija \u0160karnulyt\u0117 (b. 1987) received BA in Sculpture at the Brera Institute in Milan and MA at the Troms\u00f8 Academy of Arts. The artist&#8217;s films have been screened in numerous festivals, including Rotterdam, Busan, Oberhausen, Hors Pistes (Paris), Edinburgh and Sao Paulo. E. \u0160karnulyt\u0117 participated in the Toronto (2019), Milan XXII (2019), Riga (2018), Bolivian SIART (2016) and S\u00e3o Paulo (2014) biennials. In 2019 E. \u0160karnulyt\u0117 received the Future Generation Art Prize by the Pinchuk Art Center in Kiev.<\/p>\n<p>Curator of installation<em> Circular Time.
