However, in Ancient Greece it was the antonym of chaos and meant, first and foremost, order, then beauty for which order was an inseparable attribute, and consequently a decoration, a jewel, an ornament.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:567,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lem.<\/span><\/b><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Stanis\u0142aw Lem (1921-2006) \u2013 <\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Polish<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> writer, futurologist, philosopher and artist who attempted to define humankind\u2019s place in the world, to encapsulate the history of Earthly civilisation in the possible multitude of space civilisations created by evolution through trial and error. So far, nothing has confirmed such hypotheses. Lem\u2019s books (the world famous <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Solaris<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> among them) have been translated into over 40 languages. Among other awards, he received the \u2018Gloria Artis\u2019 medal and the Order of the White Eagle, Poland\u2019s highest order of merit. An asteroid and Poland\u2019s first scientific satellite were named after him.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:567,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Jewellery<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">. It has accompanied human cultures from the very beginning. It serves as an amulet, ornament, status symbol, declaration of beliefs, investment and, from the mid-20<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> century, also as an integral field of art. At a time of globalisation, when often travelling people become not unlike contemporary \u201chigh-tech nomads,\u201d jewellery can meet an important need for an intimate contact with a work of art and image building. It seems that it can also easily travel with astronauts into space, becoming an especially important personal object of <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Ars Proxima <\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">(Nearest Art) for them.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559731&quot;:567,&quot;335559739&quot;:80,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The exhibition brings together 98 artists from Poland, Germany, Austria, UK, Australia, Finland, Netherlands, Sweden, Japan, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, Argentina and the United Kingdom to explore the connections between the cosmos and jewellery.
