\"\"<\/a>This exhibition focuses on the constellation of creative collaborations surrounding the Latvian music and art group NSRD (Nebiju\u0161u saj\u016btu restaur\u0113\u0161anas darbn\u012bca\/ Workshop for the Restoration of Unfelt Feelings). NSRD was founded in 1982 by the poet and artist Juris Boiko and the architectural theorist Hardijs Ledi\u0146\u0161. They were joined by the musicians Inguna Rubene (\u010cernova) and M\u0101rti\u0146\u0161 Rutkis, and, for various artistic projects, the architects Imants \u017dod\u017eiks and Aigars Spar\u0101ns. However, many projects by NSRD involved a much wider circle of participants, and at the same time not all of the collaborative works produced by people close to NSRD can be attributed to the group. In this exhibition we explore the diversity of these creative exchanges that took place between the mid 1970s and 1989 and were united by shared influences and ideas and by their engagement with new forms of culture.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the restrictions of the Soviet time, these extended collaborations explored cutting-edge avant-garde, new wave and postmodern aesthetics. The range of works in the show extends from the literature, poetry and musical recordings that laid the foundations of NSRD\u2019s work in the mid 1970s to new wave music, actions, architectural proposals, postmodern design, discotheques, video performances and \u201capproximate art\u201d in the 1980s.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NSRD and the activities around it are legendary phenomena within the history of Latvian underground and experimental culture, appreciated by generations of readers, spectators and listeners. In the exhibition, the continuity of the legacy of NSRD is reflected in the works of younger artists who either directly reference the work of the group or share its<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>aesthetic affinities and collaborative impulses. Works by Kaspars Gro\u0161evs, Maija Kur\u0161eva, Evita Vasi\u013cjeva, the text group Orb\u012bta (Semyon Khanin, Art\u016brs Punte, Vladimirs Svetlovs, Sergejs Timofejevs) and the band Alejas (Kirils \u0112cis, Sp\u0101re V\u012btola, Reinis \u017dod\u017eiks) engage with music, poetry, architectural structures and atmospheric environments.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The title, \u201cInformation About a Transformed Situation,\u201d is a reference to the NSRD album, an audio play \u201cKuncendorfs and Osendovskis\u201d (1985) \u2013 a tale about longing, loneliness, journeying and transforming encounters and feelings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
