The Pamarys Gallery in Juodkrant\u0117 (L. R\u0117zos St 3) continues its series <\/span>Migrating Museum<\/span><\/i> and invites, at 6 pm, 8 October, to the opening event of the season designed to marry contemporary art and the local culinary interpretations.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The opening event of the season\u2019s <\/span>series will present the artist <\/span>Paulius \u0160liaupa<\/span>. <\/span>\u0160liaupa\u2019s art stems from his study of the natural processes and their transformation into visual narratives woven of organic and synthetic elements. The artist is an explorer of the relationship of man and the ecosystems, embracing such aspects as the rhythms of land and sea terrains, emphasising the estrangement of our daily life to nature.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The artwork on display at Pamarys residency is part of <\/span>Paulius \u0160liaupa\u2019s<\/span> exhibition <\/span>A Snowfall of Salt<\/span><\/i>, premiered in France,<\/span> Ville de la Rochelle. During his three-month La Rochelle residence, the artist explored the rhythms of the ocean, gathered shells and recorded low and high tides that dominate daily lives of all coastal inhabitants from fishermen to the smallest organisms.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The objects thus collected and his residence experience were fused into <\/span>\u0160liaupa\u2019s art pieces: seaside sand was mixed with pigments, the shells and other organic elements integrated into his paintings, some of them were transformed into 3D objects. Alongside with paintings, the exhibition presents his video <\/span>Gaja<\/span><\/i>, cocreated with the actress <\/span>Birut\u0117 Belada Tauteryt\u0117. In the film, Gaja wanders out-of-town streets reflecting on her finds.\u00a0 The striking contrasted locations evoke the beauty of nature and the environments imprinted by human activity.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The artwork by Paulius \u0160liaupa will be available for viewing at the Pamarys Gallery from noon till the end of the event.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Palate treats and further travels of the Migrating Museum<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h6>\n

The art part of the event will be delivered with the treats for participants\u2019 taste buds, by Gitana and Ar\u016bnas \u0160estakovai, from Nida. The famous seaside pancake-makers will treat the guests to French-culture-inspired buckwheat pancakes with different fillings of fish, Lithuanian cheese and seasonal fruit.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s <\/span>Migrating Museum\u2019s<\/span><\/i> programme will include a lecture <\/span>Why do paintings fall ill?<\/span><\/i> It is scheduled on 23 November, at the Pamarys Gallery. It will be paired with an education event in gilding by specialists from the Pranas Gudynas Conservation Centre of the LNMA. The last event of the season, an installation by <\/span>Vytautas Vir\u017ebickas, <\/span>will open in December to<\/span> run till early spring.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project <\/span>Migrating Museum<\/span><\/i> serves to create a year-round open museum to the locals and visitors to the Lithuanian seaside. It helps to promote the artwork in the care of the museum, to build a dialogue with the locals of Neringa and the arriving holidayers.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
