\"\"<\/a>At 6 pm Thursday, 20 November, Vytautas\u00a0Kasiulis\u00a0Museum of Art of the LNMA (A.\u00a0Go\u0161tauto\u00a0g. 1, Vilnius)\u00a0opens an exhibition\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Merging\u00a0Dreams<\/i>, inviting visitors to enter the\u00a0territory of introspection, the\u00a0vibrant world of dreams\u00a0and\u00a0unexpected daydreams\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0combined\u00a0artistic construct by four established Lithuanian artists,\u00a0Adomas\u00a0Danusevi\u010dius, Alina\u00a0Melnikova, Egl\u0117\u00a0Gineityt\u0117\u00a0and\u00a0Egl\u0117\u00a0Kuckait\u0117.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe exhibition curator Monika\u00a0Krik\u0161topaityt\u0117\u00a0revisits the\u00a0oppositions, and the relationship,\u00a0of nature and culture by submerging the visitor into the realm of dreams.\u00a0The works on display\u00a0open the\u00a0most mysterious depths of\u00a0human\u00a0subconscious and\u00a0evoke\u00a0incredible feelings\u00a0and\u00a0dizzying emotions.\u00a0They\u00a0reach us\u00a0from\u00a0therein\u00a0exciting and\u00a0enriching\u00a0also\u00a0our fantasy and imagination. The exhibition is about\u00a0four-artist\u00a0encounter\u00a0and their journey of self-discovery,\u201d\u00a0Ilona\u00a0Ma\u017eeikien\u0117, director of the\u00a0Vytautas\u00a0Kasiulis\u00a0Museum of\u00a0Art\u00a0introduces the event.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTwo driving forces brought about this event. First, the desire to lure\u00a0the\u00a0colourful\u00a0dreamlike nature\u2019s vitality\u00a0into our dark days of the year, to disorient the feelings by ambiguous identities, to thrill the eye with diversity and the sense of adventure.\u00a0\u00a0Second\u00a0intent has been to revisit\u00a0once more the concept of a contemporary emigrant. We perceive world-wars-related migration of Lithuanians as cutting off roots and exile, while present-day emigrants are different. They circulate in the world and continuously come back. These are the links we would like to perceive as a blood circulation system shared with Europe and the broader world,\u201d Monika\u00a0Krik\u0161topaityt\u0117\u00a0talks through the concept of the exhibition.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The dissimilar art by the famous artists translates into a common dream experience<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n

The exhibition brings together four artists, acclaimed in Lithuania and internationally. Despite each of them having a distinct creative experience and aesthetic contexts, they are kindred freely\u00a0experimenting\u00a0souls who have achieved their ingenuine idiom, far from being anchored on a single technique.\u00a0Danusevi\u010dius\u00a0practices\u00a0paintings\u00a0and creates clay\u00a0objects,\u00a0he paints in oils and draws in\u00a0multicplour\u00a0pens. Each of these mediums is applied to\u00a0writing\u00a0a story of reality and\u00a0of\u00a0its masks, to deconstruct the\u00a0rooted in culture\u00a0images of masculinity.\u00a0Barcelona-based Melnikova combines oil-paintings with aerography, drawing,\u00a0installation\u00a0and performance, exploring through all these media human\u00a0relationship\u00a0with nature,\u00a0instincts\u00a0and culture.\u00a0Gineityt\u0117\u2019s\u00a0paintings produced in oils and printmaking inks, crayons and other media, walk a fine line between reality and abstraction \u2013 inviting the beholder to further refine the image in one\u2019s imagination. By drawing in\u00a0a fountain pen,\u00a0combining\u00a0painting and monotype prints with the artist\u2019s signs,\u00a0Kuckait\u0117\u00a0pursues her\u00a0poetic explorations\u00a0of female identity. Despite distinct artistic pursuits of these four figures, situating them together leads to the discovery of convergent points, such as\u00a0similar motifs, the sense of vitality,\u00a0the\u00a0broadness of the\u00a0field of vision and empathy to the vast variety of human experience.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Escape from the seasonal dimness and a journey\u00a0in\u00a0contemporary emigrant\u2019s\u00a0shoes\u00a0<\/h6>\n

The\u00a0images of sprawling nature and life in the works on display point also towards experience of a contemporary emigrant and ways to conceptualize it.\u00a0Gineityt\u0117\u00a0and\u00a0Kuckait\u0117\u00a0live and work in Lithuania,\u00a0Danusevi\u010dius\u00a0is based in Lithuania and Denmark, Melnikova \u2013 in Spain. Such creative geography not only traces the life trajectories of their lives, but evolves into a broader metaphor of contemporary migration, characterized not by exile, but by going and coming, as part of human global circulation.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEven when settled in\u00a0a particular\u00a0place, we travel much more\u00a0and are reached\u00a0by\u00a0images from far-away places, flickering, without invitation, across our screens.\u00a0Our reservoirs are full of images, even variations of these, and upon seeing someone, we increasingly get a hunch of having met before. Therefore, the migrants are a little bit at home, while those who never left\u00a0\u2013 on the road.\u00a0A large amount of artwork on display is connected to travel,\u00a0departure\u00a0or visitation situations.\u00a0Kuckait\u0117\u00a0has been inspired by her journey to the Philippines,\u00a0Gineityt\u0117\u00a0evokes her memories of a visit to a zoo. The works by Melnikova are dominated by the light brighter\u00a0then\u00a0is common in Lithuania. The protagonists in\u00a0Danusevi\u010dius\u00a0paintings strike as just having stepped out\u00a0on the\u00a0street,\u201c\u00a0the curator of the exhibition explains how the concept of modern migration\u00a0transpires\u00a0from the assembly of works at the exhibition.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
