As the days get cooler, the Lithuanian National Museum of Art (LNMA) invites visitors to brighten up the season across its exhibition venues. As fall foliage fades, the LNMA museums and galleries will launch 13 new exhibitions, spanning diverse periods and forms of art. Beyond promising a cozy refuge from capricious autumn showers, the upcoming season promises an inspiring cultural calendar. Director General of the LNMA Arūnas Gelūnas receives the Knight’s Cross of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour
On 13th July, Dr Arūnas Gelūnas, Director General of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour. Founded in 1802 by the Emperor Napoleon, it is the highest state decoration of the French Republic. The archive of Jonas Mekas entrusted to the Lithuanian National Museum of Art on three-year-loan
A three-year loan contract entrusting the archive of Jonas Mekas (1922 – 2019) to the Lithuanian National Museum of Art (LNMA) was signed on 4 May, at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art of the LNMA. The contract has been signed by the son of Jonas Mekas, Sebastian Mekas, and the Director General of the LNMA, Dr Arūnas Gelūnas. Saturday, 1 May, Tate St Ives opened Shelters for the Senses, an exhibition of the Lithuanian-American artist Aleksandra Fledžinskaitė-Kašubienė (Kasuba, 1923–2019), the first UK comprehensive overview of the artist’s journey.
