The Priestess by Wincenty Sleńdziński, currently on its first ever public display in Lithuania at the Vilnius Picture Gallery of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art (LNMA), is still available for viewing until 22nd February as one-painting exhibition.  The artwork arrived in Lithuania from Poland thanks to the efforts of the art collectors Dominykas Šaudys and Regina Šemiotaitė. This autumn season the Lithuanian National Museum of Art introduces previously unexhibited in the country foreign and Lithuanian artists  

The Lithuanian National Museum of Art (LNMA) invites to come see its new autumn season exhibitions. The Lithuanian National Museum of Art invites to discover, this summer, foreign artists and to rediscover the artwork by the Lithuanian artists   

The Lithuanian National Museum of Art (LNMA) launches an intense programme for the summer season and invites its visitors to see new exhibitions. Locals and visitors to the capital city will be able to discover the artwork and the artists brought to Lithuania from the faraway countries of Japan, the United States of America and Taiwan, as well as from Lithuania’s closest neighbour Poland. Conservation of the Franciszek Smuglewicz’s painting ‘St Onuphrius’

In 2000, the painting and the frame were conserved by Birutė Miškinienė Biological analysis was conducted by Irena Bubinienė Chemical analysis was conducted by Dalia Panavaitė The painting was held in the service rooms of the Pivašiūnai church. According to the art researcher Regimanta Stankevičienė, previously it belonged to the Aukštadvaris Dominican church, which was converted into an Eastern Orthodox church in 1832–1842. The painting was brought to the Pranas Gudynas Conservation Centre with a painted frame (quite likely by Smuglewicz himself). The frame was very dirty, nailed through the painting to the stretcher with large nails. The stretcher was…
