The two-day programme features curated tours, presentations, talks, performances, concerts, screenings, and other special activities across the Giardini and various venues in the city of Venice.

The Lithuanian Pavilion is proud to take part in the programme. On October 9, researchers from Vilnius University and Ca’Foscari University of Venice are organizing the interdisciplinary workshop “Patchy Anthropocene and Speculative Archaeology,” while on October 9 and 10, the Lithuanian Pavilion is included in the curated tour routes.

CURATED TOURS

On October 9 and 10, three curated tours will be offered to various national pavilions at the Giardini and the city of Venice. The tours provide personal encounters with the curators, artists, organizers, or commissioners of the pavilions.

All tours take place on both Friday and Saturday at the same time and finish at 13:00 with an informal gathering at the French Pavilion in the Giardini. Starting point is the first pavilion listed. Each pavilion presentation lasts 20 minutes.

INTERDISCIPLINARY WORKSHOP

October 9, 10:00-17:30 Initiated by researchers from Vilnius University and Ca’Foscari University of Venice, the workshop “Patchy Anthropocene and Speculative Archaeology” invites participants to discuss the different ways in which contemporary artistic practices engage with the effects of the Anthropocene. Combining diverse theoretical approaches with references to the contemporary art world, the workshop reconstructs a speculative archaeology of the past and also suggests imaginary scenarios of the future. Referring to various contemporary art practices, including the works of Eglė Budvytytė, representing Lithuania at the Biennale, the workshop suggests new speculative aesthetics and imaginary futurity in the post-Anthropocene world.
