The artists’ stories, often reflecting the domestic and historical circumstances of the time, are complemented by creative challenges that encourage play. Each page presents the childhood memories of a different generation of artists, including Aleksandra Kasuba, Rūta Katiliūtė, Žilvinas Kempinas, Jonas Mekas, Mindaugas Navakas, Igoris Piekuras, Eglė Rakauskaitė, Marija Teresė Rožanskaitė, Arvydas Šaltenis, Julijonas Urbonas, Artūras Valiauga, Kazys Varnelis, Rimaldas Vikšraitis and Kazė Zimblytė. The stories have been collected from autobiographies and interviews, or recorded at the publication editor’s initiative.
The booklet was conceived by Beatričė Mockevičiūtė, artist and curator of educational programmes at the National Gallery of Art, with graphic design by Nerijus Rimkus and illustrations by Jonas Narbutas.
The publication invites young readers and everyone interested in fostering creativity to discover the possible links between creative work and play.
